Been working on these over the past days and have the overall boxes made and just need to fix up a few things. I still have some more wood cuts to make which will stabilize the tops of all 3 boxes better, especially once I add the piano hinges to open up the utility/storage boxes when needed or whenever it’s in table mode where people would be stepping on it. I also need to add some boards to cover over the wheel wells after I fill them up with some insulation.
One of the big boxes will include all my electrical components (solar/power controller, converter, charger, alternator, batteries, etc.) while the other will include all the plumbing (water pump, fresh water tank, tankless water heater, etc. ).
I’ll have a table that will be a lagun style that allows you to move 360 degree and in different places. In bed mode, the table will be able to be removed and placed between the two big utility boxes to be my bed frame. The 4 cushions for the table seats will be memory foam which would be able to just put on top of the boxes and table to convert to the bed.
The bottom box between the big boxes has two doors that open up and can be used for additional storage.
Once things are set, I’ll probably wait to primer/paint them until I get the upper/lower cabinets built and ready to paint.
Today is the 2 month anniversary of buying the van. My goal is to finish it before the kids get out of school for summer. I have just under 2 months left so I’m trying to squeeze van work in whenever I can as I do have regular work to take care!
Took way longer than expected but I have almost all the insulation done now. I ran out and need to order a little more. Had to spray and stuff anywhere I could. I also picked up my bench seat a few days ago and am taking my time to make sure I mount it in the right spot as I don’t want to drill holes in the wrong spot. This insulation helps a lot with sound deadening too. Next on the list to do is setting up the bench seat, installing the swivel seats (should be here soon) and getting things ready for framing the walls.
It’s been 2 weeks since I bought the van and am trying to get it done before the kids get out of school so we can go on a summer adventure. I still have a lot to do (flooring, walls, ceiling, kitchen, storage, bed, tables, solar/electrical, plumbing (kitchen/shower, etc.) but I believe things will start going faster once the flooring and framing gets done.
