Marathon #114 is complete at the Punch Out Ultra 8 hour! I wasn't planning on doing this but ended up signing up for it the night before the race and figured I'd get some time and miles on my feet to get ready for Oak Mountain next month.
Finished my 113th marathon today at Mindi's 40 Mile Donut Run! We ran 30-A east-to-west and then the reverse back while starting, finishing and stopping at different doughnut stores.
Finished my 13th 100 miler trail race today (112th marathon overall) at the Long Haul 100 near Lakeland, Florida. My knee issue held up pretty good but doing a couch-to-100 miler is not recommended to anyone!
Some views from my run today with the crazy fog blocking the bridge and cities. The picture of the 3 mile bridge leading into the bay is facing towards Gulf Breeze. The brighter blue picture should be showing downtown Pensacola from the bridge. Looks like Pensacola
I had an appointment with Dr. Presley today to go over the results of the MRI on my knee pain. From the MRI he said it looks like the "mild fraying/tearing of the medial meniscus" is what is causing the pain on my knee. Other than that and some wear-and-tear, everything else looked good and strong. I have a 100 mile ultramarathon in less than 4 weeks and he gave me the "go ahead" to do it as I'm keeping things slow and steady for the race and not overdoing it.
If you haven't paced or crewed someone at a 100+ miler yet, then you should. Completely different ball game and much different than a regular marathon or shorter ultras.
This was my third year in a row completing the Lang Haul 100 miler. My knee issue started flaring up and pretty much walked the majority of miles at the end.
Ran with the Crop Dusters in Destin and got marathon #109 on winter solstice 2024. Always great running with them.
Finished marathon run #108 today while pacing the 4:45 group at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon. Official finish time was 4:44:43 so we finished right where we wanted to. It was great seeing friends and making new ones during the race.
