Van Build Post #10 – Installation of Both Fans Completed

Installation of both fans completed. They both powered up and I had no leaks when testing for water.

I did have a concern when I first connected them to the battery and they didn’t work and then the van wouldn’t start. All my wiring was good (marine grade 14 gauge with fuse box close to battery) and positive/negative connected correctly. At first the van would try to start and would show a cocktail of service issues alerts. I

grabbed my jump starter I had and tried to start the van but still didn’t start up. Then it started making clicking sounds and shutting down (see video below). I wasn’t happy and was thinking there was damage to the wires somewhere from the critter who had chewed up the wire before I had purchased the van. I then asked AI if the jump starter I had provided enough power for starting a Ram ProMaster 2500 and it wasn’t. I then pulled the jeep up to the van and used the jumper cables and after waiting a little bit, it booted up with no errors and everything has been running normal ever since. The previous days before I had been playing music and using the lights on in the van and hadn’t driven it.

It’s been 24 hours since I thought I was going to have to pay to get it fixed and everything is running normal. Both fans worked and are sealed. Next I’ll be focusing on installing the bench seats and finishing up the wall framework.
