Located near the small city of Alexander City in Alabama, Lake Martin is known for it’s beautiful views and boating. This was my first 50 mile distance ever and it was well organized and put together by the race director. The run is entirely on the private lands of the Russell Forest Trail System which is in East-Central Alabama. Consisting of constant rolling hills up to about 100′ and trails guiding you by beautiful views of Lake Martin, this ultramarathon was perfect for my first 50 mile trail run. If anyone is ever looking for a great trail run for a 50 or 100 miler, make sure to check out the Lake Martin endurance runs. The routes and aid stations make it easy for you (or your team) to get what you need when you need it. The race director is awesome and if you have problems, you have the option of dropping down to a shorter distance if you already completed it and make the cutoff time.
My watch died during the run but this is what was saved on it:
