I wanted to go on another running adventure through some areas that brings back many memories from growing up. I live in Pensacola but I grew up in Milton, which is located on the other side of Escambia Bay. I’ve ran out that way before, but this run was a little different.
This time I wanted to run out to the neighborhood where I grew up in. Our house got destroyed by Hurricane Ivan so I wanted to run there to take a look. On my way there, I thought I would go through and take picture of places I remember from growing up, as well as some others too. Although I originally planned to run back home, I got a call from my family asking if we could take the boat out so I cut the run short and we went on a boat ride after they came and picked me up.
Here’s a link to a Google map I made with some of the locations pinpointed on the map:

These images were from the start to about mile 10. We’ll see where this adventure takes me today.
Good morning Pace! (entering Pace, Florida)
Heading into Milton and towards the riverwalk in Downtown Milton.
Passing over Pond Creek
Passing by my friend’s auto shop! Great auto repair at Zachs!
Downtown Milton’s Riverwalk and Veterans Memorial
Milton train station
Entering Bagdad, Florida. I grew up in Bagdad and went to elementary school here. I wanted to capture some photos of some memories I had from the area.
This is the property where I grew up at. Hurricane Ivan destroyed our house (as well as many of our neighbors), but it couldn’t destroy the beautiful view on Blackwater Bay! It’s strange and slightly spooky that it’s been so long since we lost the house and yet I can still walk over some of the foundation of the house. I actually helped with installing those tiles you see in one of the photos. There were so many great memories made at that house from family reunions, to windsurfing after school, fishing and even watching the Blue Angels fly over the bay while practicing. There are so many great memories that will never be forgotten.
Here’s some of my favorite fishing spots in the neighborhood!
Ending the run early to go take the recently fixed boat out! I always seem to plan these long runs to go by Dairy Queens!
