Van Build Post #19 – Not a good day for the van

Took it to a dealership to get the oil changed and check the fuel cap sensor since the service alert started showing the past week. I go to leave and notice the service alert was still showing. They tell me it’s just from the fuel cap sensor and to give it some time as it will likely turn off. I leave. Once I’m on the interstate for a while, I started getting a new service alert for “oil pressure low”.

By the time I get back on the phone with the service department from the dealer and they talk to the service tech, I’m already back in Milton to pick up Riley from school. They tell me to pull over and get it towed back to the dealership. I pull over to Zach’s (thanks for letting me crash there and the quick look) and find out there’s oil all under the van and no oil on the stick. I had just left from the dealership and paid for the oil change. I took a lot of photos and pictures (thanks again Zach) and when I told the dealership, she told me she had walked out to where the van was parked at when I left and she saw a puddle of oil.

I really hope this didn’t ruin the engine. I’m beyond upset and really hope the dealership takes this serious and not just try to “clean it up” and sweep it under the rug or push the blame in something else.

It got towed there a little while ago and they are supposed to go over everything in the morning.
