Van Build Post #29 – Plumbing, Electronics, Second Swivel Table

Getting real close to finishing up. The plumbing took longer than planned as I wanted to make sure everything was done without any issues. Today was first time running the water through the tubes and there were no leaks. The water pump, accumulator and heater all worked as expected.

I had to cut 3 more holes in the van: 1 for water tank draining, 1 for heater & tank vents, 1 for sink drain. That’s a total of 14 holes I had to drill for seats, fans, shower, tank, sink). All 14 holes were planned thoroughly and were drilled in the precise spots.

All the outlets are working and wired to breakers and fuses based on their needs. I setup and programmed the Victron Cerbo GX which is a touch screen controller screen which allows me to view the status of everything (solar power, batteries, shore power, tank level, etc.). I also programmed it using a tank sensor so it gives me alerts whenever the fresh water tank is getting low. If it detects any issues with anything, it will send alerts as well. I also have it configured with my phone app as well.

The induction cooktop and refrigerator are fully running. I added a good amount of outlets in specific areas where needed (regular AC power outlets, DC power USB outlets, on/off switches for safety and to limit extra power usage).

The sink water has both cold and hot water and you can take the hose off the sink and run it outside if we ever wanted to wash off before getting in the van.

I have all the water lines set with on/off valves so I can easily isolate different things as needed. I currently have the shower lines turned off since I’m working on it next. I also have a main on/off for the fresh water tank too so I can turn everything off at one time. I also have a drain option if I wanted to drain the tank too. I also installed a water inlet that runs to the tank so it’s easy to refill it. I can watch the monitor to see how close it is to filing up so I don’t have to open the plumbing box to see.

Other than fine tuning some things (flooring, sealing drains, caulking walls, etc.), finishing up the shower will be the last major thing inside the van to complete. I will then just need to add the gray water tank below the van and run the lines to it.

Almost done!
