Van Build Post #27 – Electrical System, Passenger Wall, Upper Cabinet

I wanted to setup the van to have the 3 main power sources: solar power, shore power and startup battery (vehicle power).

I have 600 watts from solar panels (three 200-watt panels) and have fuses for each one so I can isolate them if any of them ever have an issue.

I have on/off options for each source of power (solar, car battery and shore power). I also have a breaker box for AC power which I can turn off either the full AC system, or I can turn off each breaker individually (outlets, water heater, induction cooktop, etc.). I also have a fuse box for DC power with fuses for outlets, fans, water pump, refrigerator, etc.

I had came across an issue with the shore power flipping the house breaker. After researching, checking/testing everything and contacting support, I was told the issue was likely a known issue that the company was aware of in the inverter/charger I purchased. I was told the company (which is a highly respected one in the world – if not the top) needed to update the firmware for the software. They provided me a quick fix to try (which I had already came across in my research) which required purchasing a single outlet surge protector and a single 15 amp adapter to use with my shore power setup. It worked and I can use shore power now.

I custom built upper cabinets and ran dimmable puck lights underneath them. The doors should be finished today. I also have the main puck lights on the ceiling on a different dimmer switch. Also build the frame by the bench seats so there is extra storage space and feet can set on it when the driver seats are swirled around.

Now I’m trying to finish up the shower frame and once that is done , I can then put up the driver side wall and outlets. I will then focus on finishing the plumbing, flooring and finishing touches.

I didn’t make my original goal time (June 3rd) but I feel I can get done within the next 1-2 weeks.
