Van Build Post #6: Bench Seat

I need to install the bench seat in the van. To do this, I’ll need 4-6 strong 1/4″ thick steel plates cut to size and with some bolt holes drilled (grade 8 bolts with a minimum 3/8” diameter). I don’t have the exact sizes yet, but will know once I have the exact positions set.

I would also like to add a square steel frame that would raise the seats up by about 5″ so they are close to the same height as the front two seats are. They don’t have to be exact, but just closer to the height of the front seats

I can buy the steel plates in similar sizes online, but I have no experience or tools for cutting/working with steel plates and these will be used to bolt the bench seat down to the van so it needs to be done good.

I think I know a few local metal fabricators but don’t remember who all they were. Any recommendations?
