Simply put, the Cottonmouth 100k is a great race that is put together by some great people! I originally planned on doing the 100 miler, but months before race day I decided to drop down to the 100k due to me thinking I wasn’t able to get enough training in to complete the longer distance. I’m 0 for 3 in completing a 100 miler so I didn’t want to take the risk of going 0 for 4 due to lack of training, as I feel that would certainly put a dent in my goal of completing a 100 miler. I am so glad I made the decision as half way through the 100k, I feel I had an awakening in my endurance running and ended up running about the last 14 miles of the 62+ miles and ended up finishing 4th overall. I feel excited to give another shot at crossing the finish line on the 100 mile distance.
