Finished my 113th marathon today at Mindi's 40 Mile Donut Run! We ran 30-A east-to-west and then the reverse back while starting, finishing and stopping at different doughnut stores.
Some people run for medals; I run for donuts.
I officially checked off Marathon #113 at a race that was as sweet as it was challenging: Mindi’s 40-Mile Donut Run. This wasn’t your typical looped course. We tackled the scenic 30-A corridor, running the full stretch east-to-west and then turning right back around to do the reverse.
The best part? Our logistics were dictated by sugar. We started, finished, and made several “strategic” stops at various local donut shops along the way. It’s hard to complain about tired legs when you have a fresh glaze waiting for you at the next aid station!
I didn’t manage to snap many photos—I was a bit too focused on the running (and the eating)—but the company was top-notch. We had a great group of about 12 of us out there, with everyone tackling different goals, from the full 40-mile ultra to 20-mile stretches and other distances in between.
There’s nothing quite like the camaraderie of a small, local run—especially when it involves 30-A views and frosted treats. Huge thanks to everyone who came out; it was another unforgettable day on the road!
