50 Mile Run Around The Bays

I live in Northwest Florida and there are a lot of bays around the area (Pensacola Bay, Escambia Bay, East Bay, Blackwater Bay).  After growing up on Blackwater Bay and now living right by Escambia Bay, I wanted to do a run that would take me all around the bays while helping me get some mileage in for a 100k ultra I was training for.  It was a great trip consisting of crossing some big bridges, small bridges, a small set of trails and through different cities in different counties I've lived in over much of my life.  Some other highlights of the running adventure included a few gas station stops, a visit for coffee & bagel at a coffee...

Lake Martin 50 Mile Ultramarathon

Located near the small city of Alexander City in Alabama, Lake Martin is known for it's beautiful views and boating.  This was my first 50 mile distance ever and it was well organized and put together by the race director.  The run is entirely on the private lands of the Russell Forest Trail System which is in East-Central Alabama.  Consisting of constant rolling hills up to about 100' and trails guiding you by beautiful views of Lake Martin, this ultramarathon was perfect for my first 50 mile trail run.  If anyone is ever looking for a great trail run for a 50 or 100 miler, make sure to check out the Lake Martin endurance runs.  The routes and aid stations...

Distance:  31+ miles

2014 Albany Marathon

The 2014 Albany Marathon was officially my first marathon that I completed.  Months before it I had ran my first marathon, the 2013 Pensacola Marathon, but I ended up collapsing and passing out about a quarter mile from the finish line and was taken to the emergency room by ambulance.  After looking around for a marathon to do relatively soon, I ended up signing up for the Albany Marathon after a recommendation from Paul at Running Wild.  Choosing the Albany Marathon worked out great as another runner in my training group, Lesley, signed up for the race as well in effort to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Once I got to the hotel and checked in, I went to the...
